Corinthians’ advisory council has given president Osmar Stabile the green light to negotiate a settlement of the club’s debt to Talleres with investment firm Outfield, according to Central do Timão.

The plan would see Outfield assume the Argentines’ claim, valued at 7 million dollars, approximately R$ 35 million. Corinthians would then owe 8.5 million dollars, around R$ 44 million, to be repaid in 26 monthly instalments at interest set at CDI plus 1% per year, currently 15.4%. TV rights contracts and pitchside advertising have been offered as guarantees.

The Córdoba club’s receivable stems from the signing of midfielder Rodrigo Garro in January 2024. Since arriving at Parque São Jorge, the 28-year-old has played 134 matches and won the Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil last season, plus the Supercopa 2026.

The previous agreement between the clubs expired on Friday, and the deadline has now been extended to Tuesday, 16 June. Talleres president Andrés Fassi said he accepted Corinthians’ request as he believes the Brazilians are trying to collaborate. Failure to pay could trigger another transfer ban, preventing new registrations.

The move comes amid short-term financial strain at Corinthians. For the second successive month the men’s first-team squad and coaching staff were not paid, with wages expected last Saturday, the fifth business day of June, but not met.

Stabile is abroad until Sunday on a CBF-led visit to the United States to study MLS management models.
