Corinthians ended the first half of 2026 with a 3-1 win at Grêmio, a semester of silverware, stumbles and a managerial switch.
According to Meu Timao, it brought a Supercopa, a Paulistão exit, Libertadores progress and a steadier league finish before the World Cup.
In February they beat Flamengo to win the Supercopa, Gabriel Paulista scoring before Yuri Alberto finished it late.
Also that month, José Martínez left after an ACL injury and off field friction. Corinthians will fund surgery and pay 30% of his wages from February through December 2026, with no obligations from 2027.
Paulistão began with a 3-0 win over Ponte Preta but tailed off. The holders went out 1-0 at Grêmio Novorizontino after a home derby loss to Palmeiras.
In the Brasileirão, a seven-match winless run under Dorival Júnior ended with his dismissal, the 1-0 home defeat to Internacional proving decisive. He left after nine without victory.
Fernando Diniz arrived within a day and debuted with a Libertadores win at Platense. He set a club record of six clean sheets to start, before May’s 2-1 loss at Mirassol.
Corinthians topped Group E and will face Rosario Central in the last 16. League form improved, and they paused in 10th.
Yuri Alberto wants a move to Europe and Memphis’s deal ends on 31 July, while André Luiz and Breno Bidon could attract bids. A transfer ban, after failure to honour a 2024 agreement with Philadelphia Union, remains, and a friendly with Cascavel set for 12 July.
