Corinthians face Flamengo in the Supercopa do Brasil final on Sunday at Estádio Mané Garrincha, kick-off 16:00. The club are looking to improve their record in national finals.

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have contested 15 national finals, winning eight and finishing runners-up in seven, a 53.33% success rate.

Their first national final came in 1976, a 2-0 defeat to Internacional in the Brasileiro. They dominated the 1990s, reaching six finals and losing only once, to Palmeiras in the 1994 league decider. In that decade they lifted the Brasileiros of 1990, 1998 and 1999, the 1991 Supercopa do Brasil and the 1995 Copa do Brasil.

Form fluctuated in the 2000s. Between 2001 and 2010 they won the Copa do Brasil in 2002 and 2009, finished second in 2001 and 2008, and were beaten by Santos in the 2002 league final.

More recently, finals proved harder to convert. In 2018 Corinthians lost both legs to Cruzeiro, the home match notable for a Pedrinho goal overturned by VAR that could have taken the tie to penalties. In 2022 they drew both legs with Flamengo, who took the Copa do Brasil on penalties at the Maracanã, then three years later at the same venue Corinthians beat Vasco 2-1 to win the tournament.
