Corinthians aim to resolve Women's Libertadores squad row, see list

On the morning of this Friday, 26, Conmebol released the list of players registered by the 16 clubs participating in the Women's Copa Libertadores, which will take place in Argentina and will start on the next October 2. And among the disclosed relations, naturally, is the one sent by Corinthians, with the 23 names chosen by coach Lucas Piccinato from the 32 that currently make up the Brabas squad.

The presence of midfielder Yaya, who last week left Parque São Jorge for Paris Saint-Germain, France, in an early departure after signing a pre-contract that would release her from Alvinegro at the end of the year due to the end of her bond, caught attention among the chosen names.

This is explained, however, by the fact that the deadline for submitting the list to Conmebol expired on September 2, when Corinthians still had the player as there were no talks for her sale to the French club. Thus, at present, there are only 22 Brabas regularized to defend the club in the continental tournament.

According to the portal Meu Timão, Corinthians is already in contact with Conmebol to try to circumvent the situation, removing Yaya's name from the list of registered players to replace her with another player. The prospects for success, however, are uncertain, as the Copa Libertadores regulations provide for this type of exchange only in cases of "injury or illness", and not in the case of player negotiation.

With this, nine names were left out and will not defend Corinthians in the continental competition, unless the club manages to replace Yaya's name. At the moment, the players out are goalkeeper Rillary, fullbacks Leticia Santos and Paulinha, defender Duda Mineira, midfielders Juliana Passari and Manu Olivan, and forwards Eudimilla, Carol Nogueira, and Ellen.
