Corinthians beat Vasco 1-0 at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, finishing with 10 after André Luiz was sent off in the first half.

According to Meu Timao, it was André Luiz’s second dismissal of this Brasileiro inside a month. His first came in the derby on 12 April for an obscene gesture towards Andreas Pereira.

Against Vasco he received a straight red for a scissors tackle on midfielder Thiago Mendes.

The latest card makes André the 10th player this century to be sent off twice in a single Brasileiro season. The previous was José Martínez, dismissed in defeats to Red Bull Bragantino and Cruzeiro in 2025, 18 days apart.

Others on the list are defenders Batata, Anderson Cléber, Sebá Dominguez, Marcus Vinícius and Leandro Castán, midfielders Fabinho and Marcelo Mattos, and forward Carlos Tévez, spanning 2001 to 2011.

In his post-match press conference, Fernando Diniz expressed regret over the incident, adding that André does not show that behaviour day to day and that he will seek to understand what happened.

André will be suspended for Sunday’s trip to Mirassol at Estádio Campos Maia. Gustavo Henrique and André Carrillo are also banned after accumulating three yellow cards.
