According to Globo, Corinthians are facing contract uncertainty with four members of their first-team squad, as Ángel Romero, Fabrizio Angileri, Matheus Bidu, and Gustavo Henrique have all entered the final six months of their current deals. This status allows them to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other clubs and potentially depart Parque São Jorge on a free transfer at the beginning of next year.
Of the quartet, Angileri and Gustavo Henrique are regarded as regulars in the starting lineup. In contrast, Romero and Bidu remain active squad players, although neither has been a predictable fixture in the first XI under recent managers. Each player’s contract situation, however, presents its own complexities for the Corinthians hierarchy.
Matheus Bidu’s future seemed close to resolution earlier this year when negotiations advanced for a potential three-year extension. Talks ultimately broke down due to unresolved details around contract terms, coinciding with changes in club leadership under new president Osmar Stabile. With no further progress reported, Bidu’s situation remains open-ended and subject to further deliberations.
Gustavo Henrique also began discussions about a renewal, though these remain at a preliminary stage. The central defender’s representatives are scheduled to meet shortly with the club’s football department, now overseen by sporting director Fabinho Soldado, to explore the possibility of a new agreement and secure the defender’s place in the squad.
Both Romero and Angileri, however, require additional evaluation before any talks commence. Romero’s current deal was extended thanks to an automatic renewal clause, after the Paraguayan forward originally sought a longer commitment but accepted the club’s proposal for a shorter extension. As for Angileri, the Argentine full-back has yet to initiate any conversations about his future at the club.
With immediate contract priorities focused elsewhere—including the search for a pacey forward to upgrade the attack—the club’s leadership is expected to assess the performance and contributions of Romero and Angileri over the coming months before making any renewal offers. Financial limitations continue to shape Corinthians’ transfer strategy, making retention decisions on out-of-contract players all the more significant.
As pre-contract eligibility opens up new possibilities for these four players, Corinthians face the risk of losing established starters and experienced squad members without transfer fees. Securing key renewals or identifying alternative replacements will be a test for the management team as the club builds towards the close of the current season.
