Corinthians were beaten 1-0 by Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena in the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista. The home loss denied Dorival Júnior’s side the chance to go top and saw them slip a place.

According to Meu Timao, the defeat left Corinthians fifth on 11 points. Novorizontino lead on 16 after beating São Bernardo 2-1, Palmeiras are second with 15, and Red Bull Bragantino sit third on 13.

Portuguesa are fourth, ahead of Corinthians. The current top eight is completed by Guarani and Botafogo-SP, both on 11, and São Paulo with 10. In this scenario, Corinthians would face Portuguesa away in the quarter-finals.

Capivariano remain in the hunt with 10 points, with Santos on 9. Mirassol and São Bernardo have 8, while Primavera and Noroeste are on 7. Velo Clube are on 5 as they try to avoid relegation, and Ponte Preta are already relegated on 1.

Corinthians finish the first phase next Sunday, 15 February, at 16:00 against São Bernardo at Estádio Primeiro de Maio. Before that, they host Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday at 20:00 at Neo Química Arena in the third round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
