Corinthians climb Paulista standings despite 1-1 draw with São Paulo

Corinthians drew 1-1 with São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena in the third round of the Campeonato Paulista, yet rose to seventh overall on four points.

According to Meu Timao, other results in the round meant Corinthians moved ahead of Mirassol and Velo Clube after their defeats to Palmeiras and Portuguesa.

Capivariano, meanwhile, climbed above them by beating Ponte Preta to reach six points.

The gap to the top widened, with Red Bull Bragantino and Palmeiras on nine points as leader and runner-up, five clear and the only unbeaten sides in the competition.

At the bottom, four teams remain winless. Noroeste, Guarani and Botafogo have two points in 13th, 14th and 15th. Ponte Preta are 16th without a point.

Corinthians return on Thursday to face Santos at Vila Belmiro in the fourth round.
