Corinthians confirm Gustavo Henrique’s contract extension until end of 2027

On Monday, Corinthians officially announced the contract renewal of defender Gustavo Henrique. The defender, who was previously tied to the club only until December 2025, will now remain with Timão until December 31, 2027. The Central do Timão had already reported at the beginning of August that the player had a deal in place with the club.

The center-back had been receiving inquiries from other Brazilian teams, as well as clubs from the United States and Saudi Arabia, but prioritized staying at the Parque São Jorge club. Gustavo Henrique joined Corinthians at the start of 2024 after terminating his contract with Real Valladolid, Spain, which at the time was competing in the local second division.

His debut in the Corinthians shirt took a while to happen due to physical issues. His first official match for the club was on February 14, 2024, in a 4-1 away win over Botafogo-SP during the group stage of that year’s Campeonato Paulista.

Since joining Timão, the defender has played 56 matches, with a record of 29 wins, 10 draws, and 17 losses, resulting in a 57.74% success rate. During this period, he contributed with four goals and one assist.

Wearing the number 13 shirt, he was an important piece in the campaign for the Campeonato Paulista title, won in Itaquera against Palmeiras. Alongside André Ramalho, he formed the center-back duo that propelled Corinthians’ surge in the last edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro, securing a spot in the preliminary phase of the Conmebol Libertadores.

Currently, Gustavo Henrique is enjoying a good phase under the command of Dorival Júnior at Timão. The defender has been a regular starter alongside André Ramalho and stood out in Alvinegro’s qualification for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, when he scored the team’s second goal against rivals Palmeiras in the return leg, played at Allianz Parque.

With the defender’s renewal confirmed, Corinthians is now working to resolve the situation of four other players whose contracts are nearing their end. They are: left-back Fabrizio Angileri, midfielder Maycon (on loan from Shakhtar, Ukraine), as well as forwards Ángel Romero and Talles Magno (on loan from New York City, United States).
