Corinthians confirmed for Joaçaba anniversary futsal tournament in Santa Catarina | OneFootball

Corinthians will compete in the Desafio Internacional de Futsal in Santa Catarina on 19 and 20 September, part of Joaçaba’s anniversary celebrations. According to Meu Timao, hosts Joaçaba Futsal confirmed Corinthians’ participation on Wednesday.

The four-team event features Corinthians, hosts Joaçaba, Boca Juniors of Argentina and Cerro Porteño of Paraguay, giving the competition an international flavour.

It marks the 109th anniversary of Joaçaba’s political and administrative emancipation, observed on 25 August. Matches will be staged at the Centro de Eventos da Unoesc in a knockout format.

The semi-finals are set for 19 September, with the final and third-place match on Sunday 20. The full schedule, kick-off times and ticket information will be released in the coming days.

Corinthians have already taken part in commemorative fixtures this year. In March they faced Clube Atlético Guarany, of Espumoso, for the Gaúcho club’s 70th anniversary, and in May travelled to the Distrito Federal to play Seleção Liga Candanga in a tribute to former player Rafael Rocha, known as Rato. They won both matches.

Before September, Fernando Malafaia’s side focus on official duties. They host São José at 20:00 on Thursday at Ginásio Wlamir Marques in the ninth round of the Campeonato Paulista de Futsal.
