According to Globo.com, Corinthians’ deliberative council closed its public hearings on statute reform on Monday with a councillors-only meeting, with the new text set to go to a March vote, first by councillors then by members, with exact dates still to be decided.
Around 70 councillors attended at Parque São Jorge, the club’s social headquarters. Five members of the organised supporters’ group Gaviões da Fiel were outside the theatre where the meeting took place.
The session briefed councillors on the main topics aired since the end of last year. There were no decisions on the draft or on the voting procedure.
Council president Romeu Tuma Júnior said two months of discussions had softened much of the resistance among councillors, leaving the debate mature enough for a vote.
He described the process as tiring but important after many years without statutory change, and stressed the value of voices from outside Parque São Jorge to Corinthians.
The final draft will be unveiled publicly after Carnival. The Statute Reform Commission will complete the text based on the hearings and Monday’s meeting.
Since December last year the council has held 10 public hearings, open to councillors, members and fans. A vote had been pencilled in for 24 November 2025, but it was postponed because the version presented by Tuma in October did not have enough backing among councillors.
