Corinthians' deliberative council has set a hearing for Monday 25 May to rule on a request to expel former president Andrés Sanchez over alleged misuse of the club's corporate card, according to Meu Timao.
The ethics committee has probed since January around R$ 480,000 in personal spending between 2018 and 2021. It has unanimously backed permanent expulsion, passing the case to the council for a final decision.
The session will begin with the committee's report, then an oral defence from Sanchez or his lawyer. Councillors could apply permanent expulsion, impose a warning or suspension, or archive the case without sanction.
Separately, the São Paulo Public Ministry filed charges in October 2025 against Sanchez and former finance manager Roberto Gavioli. They allege embezzlement, money laundering and falsification of a tax document, with Gavioli accused only of the first two.
The Second Court for Tax Crimes, Criminal Organisation and Money Laundering initially rejected the laundering and falsification counts, but that ruling was stayed after prosecutors sought the judge's recusal alleging partiality.
In another complaint, courts also rejected alleged laundering and tax offences. The case cites more than 200 expenses across 31 invoices from August 2018 to February 2021.
Prosecutors want about R$ 480,000 repaid to Corinthians for material damages, plus a further 75% for moral damages, taking the claim beyond R$ 1.1 million.
