According to Meu Timao, Corinthians’ Deliberative Council will vote on Monday on the possible expulsion of Augusto Melo from club membership after an Ethics and Discipline Commission probe into events on 31 May 2025, when supporters tried to reinstall him as president.
A group led by Maria Angela de Sousa Ocampos, the council’s first secretary, tried to annul the vote that impeached Melo in August 2025. She entered the chamber and declared herself council president. If upheld, Melo would have replaced interim Osmar Stabile.
On Monday they assess Maria Angela, Mario Mello Junior, Paulo Juricic and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé. On 8 June they address Carlos Eduardo Melo Silva, Laercio Ferreira Victoria, Leandro Olmedila, Marcos Coelho Abdo, Paulo Rogério Pinheiro Jr., Peterson Ruan Aiello do Couto Ramos, Rodrigo Simonnini Gonzalez and Wanderson Contrera Salles.
Mario Mello and Ronaldo Tomé sit on the Ethics Commission and would be replaced by Claudia Carlos Oliveira and Richard de Paula Oliveira if removed or suspended. The case has been examined internally since July last year and advanced in May with recommendations for punishment. The session will be chaired by acting council president Leonardo Pantaleão.
Councillors will vote on the commission’s report, which recommends expelling Melo for a very serious statutory breach and rejects his defence, saying he was the principal political beneficiary of the 31 May action. In hearings, Melo said he had no prior knowledge and was told by supporters of a document enabling his return. Stabile, then interim president, called it a threat to democratic rule of law.
The first call is at 18:00, the second at 19:00 regardless of attendance. Proceedings start with approval of minutes, then the rapporteur’s reading and the defence’s oral submission. If a majority backs the report, Melo will be expelled, lose social club access and be permanently removed.
