On Wednesday night, Corinthians beat Capivariano 3-0 in the sixth round of the Campeonato Paulista, yet their return to the Neo Química Arena drew the club’s lowest crowd at the venue in more than two years. It was their first home outing since winning the Supercopa do Brasil at the weekend.
Meu Timao reports that 28,600 supporters attended, generating a gross gate of R$ 1,641,966.00.
The club had not seen such a low turnout at Itaquera since 1 November 2023, when 29,612 watched a 1-0 win over Athletico-PR in the Brasileirão.
There was an even smaller attendance earlier in 2023, with only 26,556 paying to see a 3-0 victory against Liverpool of Uruguay in the Copa Libertadores. Corinthians had already been eliminated in the group stage.
The figures sit well below the venue’s recent average. In 2025, the stadium hosted an average crowd of 41,835 with revenue of R$ 3.01 million.
The situation will certainly not be repeated on Sunday, when Corinthians host Palmeiras in the first Dérbi of the season and the second clássico at the arena this year. Kick-off is 20:30 in the seventh round of the state championship.
