Corinthians have ended talks to sign Gabi Nunes this season and are not expected to add further players in 2026 due to finances, according to Meu Timao.

The club had hoped Fatal Fans sponsorship money would enable a salary-aligned offer, but the priority has shifted to paying down debt.

A free agent after leaving Aston Villa, Gabi Nunes had prioritised Corinthians. The club made an offer in May, which she rejected as below expectations.

Even so, the board suggested talks could restart in January. The view is that early 2027 may bring steadier finances and possible exits could lighten the wage bill.

Nunes will explore other options. Interest emerged from Europe, the United States and Mexico soon after her Villa exit. Brazilian clubs also called, but she has ruled out another move within the country for now.

A move for right-back Antonia is also unlikely to progress. She is under contract at Real Madrid until mid 2027 and only initial enquiries were made.

Corinthians carry about R$ 2.7 billion in debt, which also affects the women’s squad. The Libertadores 2025 title bonus, spread over 12 instalments, still has amounts outstanding. Another debit concerns the Copa das Campeãs prize, with 80% of the R$ 5.3 million allotted to players, coaches and staff.
