Corinthians eye 2026: cost-cutting in focus, key players likely to leave

The Corinthians board, under the leadership of Osmar Stabile, has begun planning for the 2026 season. According to information from Rádio Itatiaia, the main objective of the management is to reduce costs and alleviate the financial crisis affecting the club, whose total debt has already reached R$ 2.7 billion.

One of the priorities of the new plan is to decrease personnel expenses, which include salaries, labor charges, image rights, and bonuses. By July of this year alone, Corinthians had already spent R$ 256.1 million in this category, an amount considered excessive by the administration.

As a consequence, reducing the payroll of the professional squad is seen as inevitable. The board intends to negotiate the departure of players with high salaries and below-expected performance. This cost-cutting policy is also expected to affect employees at the Joaquim Grava Training Center and the social club.

Simultaneously, the club seeks to expand its revenue sources. The internal assessment is that Corinthians receives below-market values in some strategic sectors. Therefore, negotiations are underway to renegotiate the main shirt sponsorship and the naming rights of the Neo Química Arena, as well as a possible change of the company responsible for the stadium's parking.

The financial plan also includes the sale of players as a way to generate immediate revenue. Starting in January, the board will carefully analyze proposals for young prospects and valued athletes, including Breno Bidon, Gui Negão, and Yuri Alberto, considered important assets of the alvinegro squad.
