Corinthians get first look at the FIFA Women's Club World Cup trophy

Corinthians already knows what the prize will be in the inaugural FIFA Women's Club World Cup, a tournament marking the first edition of the Women's Club World Cup. This Monday (19th), the highest football authority officially presented the competition's trophy, which will be held in London, England, starting on January 28th.

The trophy has a circular shape, similar to a plate, with a golden finish. The design features six maps positioned around a central emblem, representing the nations of the participating clubs. According to FIFA, the concept of the trophy symbolizes global unity and the excellence of women's club football.

The presentation took place at an English school near Brentford Stadium, which will host the tournament's semifinals. The event was conducted by Alex Scott MBE, former player of the English national team and Arsenal, alongside Jill Ellis, FIFA's director of football and two-time Women's World Cup champion. During the event, students had direct contact with the trophy, received official competition materials, and participated in a Q&A session.

“It was a pleasure to spend time with the children and witness their excitement at seeing the trophy up close. I can't wait to see them at the stadium in a few days”, said Jill Ellis.

“As a former coach, I firmly believe that we must seize every opportunity to engage with the younger generation and share the values and magic of our sport. This incredible new tournament will help inspire a new generation of fans passionate about women's football and support the ongoing evolution and growth of the sport”, she added.

Alex Scott also highlighted the symbolic importance of the tournament for global women's football.

“It's amazing to see the first edition of the FIFA Women's Club World Cup come to life here in London, bringing together champions from all continents to compete on a truly global stage. This is a pivotal moment for women's club football, and I am proud that London is at the heart of it”, she declared.

Corinthians, the Women's Libertadores champion, will be one of the semifinalists in the competition. The alvinegra team faces Gotham FC from the United States on January 28th in a single match that will determine a spot in the final. The winner will face the victor of the match between Arsenal from England and AS FAR from Morocco.

The final and the third-place match are scheduled for February 1st at Arsenal's stadium. It will be on this date that the trophy will be lifted for the first time, crowning the intercontinental champions of the inaugural edition of the FIFA Women's Club World Cup.
