Corinthians members seek removal of Fábio Soares amid probe into security contract | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians members and councillors have sought the precautionary removal of former administrative director Fábio Soares, filing a petition to Leonardo Pantaleão, acting president of the club’s Deliberative Council.

The document cites two grounds for immediate removal and an ethics case. It alleges harassment of two employees at Parque São Jorge and Neo Química Arena, and questions a security firm opened in an employee’s name at Soares’s request, now under investigation by the São Paulo state prosecutor’s office.

Mega Assessoria Operacional Ltda, registered to then operational manager Fernando José da Silva, issued three invoices totalling R$676,000 for private security. Incorporated on three July 2025 during Osmar Stabile’s interim presidency, the company lacked Federal Police authorisation. Prosecutor Cássio Conserino has opened an inquiry into possible theft, ideological falsehood, tax offences and embezzlement.

The petitioners say the severity of the claims and a pattern of irregularities demand preventive action. They argue Soares holds direct operational power and unrestricted access, and ask for his immediate removal, blocks on physical, technological and asset access, and the appointment of a provisional director.

They add that, despite the club indicating it would act after the March harassment report, they are not aware of steps taken to punish alleged offenders or to reduce women’s exposure.

It is signed by eight councillors, including Marcelo Kahan Mandel and Antonio Roque Citadini, and by two members, Cyrillo Cavalheiro Neto and Felipe José Mendes da Silva.

Hours after publication, Soares asked to resign amid the controversy. He had been in post since two June, days after Stabile took charge following the precautionary suspension of Augusto Melo.
