Corinthians ‘not to sack’ Dorival Júnior even if Flamengo win | OneFootball

Corinthians are not planning to dismiss Dorival Júnior even in the event of defeat when Flamengo visit on Sunday, according to UOL.

The hierarchy consider a loss to Flamengo 'normal' given the visitors' quality, so even a setback would not prompt his dismissal.

Even so, demands for wins are increasing and the pressure is being felt at CT Joaquim Grava. Dorival Júnior is aware of the scrutiny and has avoided publicly yielding to those demands. His staff maintain that the work has value.

The coach feels increasingly less supported by the board, and shifts in that relationship have bothered him. He has already made that clear. Despite the noise, the players remain aligned with his approach.

Corinthians have lifted the Copa do Brasil and the Supercopa do Brasil recently, the latter against Flamengo, yet pressure persists. The club exited the Campeonato Paulista in the semi-finals and sit ninth in the league.
