Corinthians players entered the pitch to face Cruzeiro at the Mineirão, unveiling an anti-racism message on their shirts.

According to Globo.com, the phrase read "Racismo é crime, denuncie" along the top of the collar. Players lifted it to mouth height during the walkout for a fourth-round Campeonato Brasileiro fixture.

The team also posed for the official pre-match photograph while displaying the message.

The gesture followed racist abuse directed at goalkeeper Hugo Souza as he left the pitch at Canindé after qualification for the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista.

Two Portuguesa supporters in the stands shouted insults including "favelado", "sem dente", "passa fome", "piolhento" and "vai cortar esse cabelo".

They were identified by Portuguesa and expelled from the club’s membership.
