Corinthians president Osmar Stabile says Arthur Cabral has been offered to the club, with any move dependent on finances. "He was offered to Corinthians. We did a financial assessment to see whether Corinthians can sign him or not. We are carrying out a critical financial analysis to see if we can pay the wages, because we committed to financial restructuring and not throwing more fuel on the debt we have," he told Record.
Talks with Botafogo continue as Corinthians explore the best structure, and an initial enquiry left the board pessimistic. A potential swap that would send Pedro Raul to Rio de Janeiro is not ruled out.
So far the club have prioritised free transfers and loans, avoiding fees. Of seven signings, four were free and three on loan, with Matheus Pereira from Fortaleza carrying a R$ 1.8 million loan fee. "We are going through financial difficulties, and I have told everyone we will suffer a little now but smile later," Stabile said.
Attention also turns to Memphis, whose deal runs to June. The club are seeking partners to fund an extension, mirroring support from Esportes da Sorte, which contributes R$ 57 million towards the forward’s costs. "We are making a big effort to get a partner to help pay, to help pay or pay 100%," he said.
Corinthians are first looking to settle what is owed to Talleres for midfielder Rodrigo Garro, with Stabile expecting to resolve that by next week. Only after that will the club focus on a new agreement for Memphis.
Memphis is in the Netherlands recovering from a right thigh strain sustained in the draw with Flamengo on Sunday, and he was ruled out of the FIFA international window. The extra CBF transfer window closes on 27 March.
