Corinthians came out ahead financially from a stadium swap with Santos, earning more from renting Neo Química Arena than from their own gate at Vila Belmiro.

According to Meu Timao, Santos drew 0-0 with Red Bull Bragantino at the Corinthians ground on Sunday in the fifth round of the Campeonato Paulista. The Baixada club paid R$ 950,000 in rent, with 30,609 attending and gross receipts of R$ 2,344,295.00. After R$ 1,539,599.89 in costs and taxes, Santos cleared R$ 804,695.11, less than the rent paid.

On Wednesday, Corinthians lost 2-1 to Bahia at Vila Belmiro in the first round of the 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro. The crowd was 13,577 with a gross of R$ 1,162,555.00. After R$ 650,606.34 in expenses, including R$ 300,000 rent to Santos, Corinthians netted R$ 511,948.66.

Santos chose São Paulo to mark the city’s 472nd anniversary and to attract more fans. Moving Corinthians’ Bahia fixture from a 29 January slot at Neo Química Arena also gave them an extra day of rest, as they could not host in the capital on the same date as São Paulo v Flamengo. Across the swap, Corinthians made R$ 1,461,948.66 in total, while Santos’ net came to R$ 1,104,695.11.

Dorival Júnior’s side are back on Sunday 1 February to face Flamengo in the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil at Mané Garrincha, kick-off 16:00.
