Corinthians named an unchanged starting XI for the first time in almost four months, drawing 0-0 with Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, Fernando Diniz’s home debut.

The wait had lasted 25 matches. On Thursday they beat Platense 2-0 in the Copa Libertadores Group E opener, and Diniz used the same XI in both, according to Meu Timao.

The XI was Hugo, Matheuzinho, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, Matheus Bidu, Raniele, André Luiz, Breno Bidon, Rodrigo Garro, Kayke and Yuri Alberto.

The last back-to-back repeat came under Dorival Júnior in the 2025 Copa do Brasil semi-final against Cruzeiro on 10 and 14 December. He started Hugo, Matheuzinho, André Ramalho, Gustavo Henrique, Matheus Bidu, José Martínez, Maycon, André Carrillo, Breno Bidon, Memphis Depay and Yuri Alberto, winning 1-0, losing 2-1, then advancing 5-4 on penalties.

Only José Martínez and Maycon have since left. Martínez’s contract was rescinded after a late return from holiday and a knee cruciate ligament injury, while Maycon did not renew.

Injuries have bitten in 2026. For the derby, Diniz was without João Pedro Tchoca, Hugo Farias, Fabrizio Angileri, Charles, Gui Negão, Kaio César and Memphis Depay.

Even so, he could go unchanged again on Wednesday, when Corinthians host Independiente Santa Fe at 21:30 in the second round of the Libertadores group stage.
