Corinthians round-up: Ederson called to World Cup, Endrick claim, Neo Química pitch work

Corinthians had a quiet Sunday, but there were three notable updates. According to Meu Timao, former midfielder Ederson received a World Cup call-up, Endrick’s father discussed a missed 2016 move, and pitch works began at Neo Química Arena.

The 26-year-old, a former Corinthians midfielder, was called up by Carlo Ancelotti after Roma right-back Wesley sustained an injury.

Douglas Sousa, father of Endrick, said the club chose not to sign the forward in 2016, citing the board’s refusal to fund his family’s move from Brasília to São Paulo.

Work to replace the Neo Química Arena pitch has begun. The programme was scheduled to start after the women’s national team’s friendly against the United States on Saturday.

The project should be completed by the end of the World Cup.
