Corinthians have sacked head coach Lucas Piccinato after the women’s side drew 2-2 with Fluminense at Neo Química Arena in round two of the Brasileirão Feminino. The dismissal was announced in the early hours of Saturday.

The club said in a statement that he had left and thanked him and his staff.

Assistant Brenno Basso, goalkeeping coach Francisco Rodrigues and fitness coach Luiz Guilherme Gonçalves have also departed. No successor has been named.

Piccinato took charge in early 2024, succeeding Arthur Elias, now Brazil women’s head coach. He won five trophies, the Supercopa in 2024, the Brasileirão in 2024 and 2025, and the Libertadores in 2024 and 2025.

Corinthians were runners-up to Palmeiras in the last two state championships and in the Supercopa in 2025 and 2026. They also lost to Arsenal after extra time in the Copa da Campeãs, the first FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.

Under Piccinato the team recorded 71 wins, 20 draws and 10 defeats, a 76.9% return, with 240 scored and 80 conceded. The only competition they missed the final was the 2025 Copa do Brasil, losing to São Paulo in the quarter-finals.

The Brabas have about three weeks to appoint a new head coach during the FIFA window. They have four points and return on 13 March against Palmeiras at Arena Barueri in round three.
