Corinthians lost 3-1 to Botafogo at Estádio Nilton Santos in the Brasileirão on Sunday, the first time Fernando Diniz's side have conceded three. The result left them in the relegation zone.
As reported by Meu Timao, the early weeks of Diniz's tenure were defined by defensive solidity.
They opened with seven successive clean sheets. The run ended in a 2-1 defeat at Mirassol, followed by a 1-1 draw with Independiente Santa Fe and a 3-2 win over São Paulo.
After a 1-0 win against Barra on Thursday, Corinthians conceded three to Arthur Cabral in Rio. Across 12 matches under Diniz, they have allowed goals in eight.
The last time they shipped three before Diniz arrived came under Dorival Júnior, a 3-1 loss to Fluminense at the Maracanã. The subsequent 1-0 home defeat to Internacional marked his exit.
Before that sequence, the only other time was a 3-0 reverse at Red Bull Bragantino in Bragança Paulista in the 2026 Paulista.
Corinthians visit Peñarol on Thursday at 21:30 at the Estadio Campeón del Siglo, the fifth round of the Libertadores group stage.
