Corinthians slip to 16th as Internacional defeat leaves them near drop zone | OneFootball

Corinthians slipped closer to the relegation places after a 1-0 home defeat by Internacional at Neo Química Arena. The result, at the close of the 10th round on Sunday night, leaves them 16th.

According to Meu Timao, they have 10 points, only two clear of the Z4, which is currently opened by Chapecoense on eight with a game in hand.

Below them the gap to the rest of the drop is three points. Remo in 18th are level on points with second-bottom Cruzeiro, while Mirassol sit last with six from 30.

Above Corinthians, the pack is tight. Santos also have 10 points and Vitória have 11. Internacional and Vasco da Gama are a further two ahead, with Red Bull Bragantino and Atlético-MG on 14, Coritiba on 15 and Athletico Paranaense on 16.

Palmeiras lead the division on 25. São Paulo are second with 20, followed by Fluminense and Flamengo, with Bahia completing the top five on 17.

Corinthians play again on Thursday. They are without a head coach after Dorival Júnior was dismissed following Sunday’s defeat. The team visit Platense in Argentina at the Estadio Coliseo de Victoria at 21:30 in the opening round of the Copa Libertadores group stage.
