Corinthians drew 0-0 at Chapecoense on Thursday at Arena Condá, closing round seven of the Brasileirão. The result left them ninth on nine points.

According to Meu Timao, Dorival Júnior’s side slipped one place from eighth at the start of the round as Grêmio, now on 11, and Athletico Paranaense, on 10, both won to move ahead.

The gap to the G5 is four points. Fluminense are fifth on 13, behind Flamengo on tiebreakers with a game in hand, while Palmeiras lead on 16 ahead of São Paulo on goal difference.

The distance to the Libertadores places is the same as to the Z4. Internacional are 17th with five points after winning at Santos in Vila Belmiro. Cruzeiro and Remo have three and remain the only teams yet to win.

Corinthians will try to end a six-match winless run on Sunday when they host Flamengo at Neo Química Arena at 20:30 in round eight.
