Corinthians supporters staged a protest outside Parque São Jorge on Wednesday afternoon, hours before a Deliberative Council meeting on statute reform. The club’s social headquarters is in Tatuapé, in São Paulo’s east.
According to Meu Timao, fans unfurled banners criticising the current political and administrative structure, demanding greater participation and questioning the associative model. Messages called for voting rights for Fiel Torcedor and referenced Vicente Matheus, while another accused businessmen of taking a club created by workers.
The demonstration came amid growing discontent among supporters and members. Criticism intensified after the council approved the 2025 accounts despite a deficit of R$ 143.4 million.
The Military Police monitored the area around Parque São Jorge to ensure safety. Despite a tense mood, the protest remained peaceful and required no intervention.
The session followed a series of calendar changes. A General Assembly set for 18 April was suspended by a court injunction obtained by councillor Felipe Ezabella. Pantaleão, acting as interim council president, then cancelled the call and resumed discussions with councillors.
Wednesday’s meeting was scheduled for a first call at 18:00 with a minimum quorum, and a second at 19:00 allowing it to start regardless of attendance. After deliberation, the draft reform will be finalised then sent to the General Assembly, where eligible members, with more than five years’ membership, of legal age and up to date with dues, will vote directly to approve or reject the changes.
