Corinthians will receive FIFA compensation after Memphis Depay’s call-up for the World Cup.

According to Meu Timao, FIFA will pay 11,000 dollars per day to clubs for each player at the tournament, about R$ 55,700.

That guarantees Corinthians 132,000 dollars for the group stage, from 14 to 25 June, roughly R$ 670,000. If the Netherlands reach the final on 19 July, the club could receive 396,000 dollars in total, a sum that exceeds R$ two million.

Corinthians should also be remunerated for releasing Memphis for the Netherlands’ training camp, which began on 30 May. The preparation period before their opener could bring in another 165,000 dollars, about R$ 835,000.

Memphis is the club’s only representative at this World Cup, and becomes the 25th Corinthians player to take part in the tournament. He follows names such as Cássio, Carlos Tévez, Dida, Vampeta, Freddy Rincón, Sócrates and Rivellino.

The Netherlands are in Group F and open against Japan on 14 June at 17:00 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. They face Sweden on 20 June at 14:00 at NRG Stadium in Houston, then finish the group against Tunisia on 25 June at 20:00 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Memphis’s Corinthians contract runs until 31 July, two weeks after the World Cup ends. The Federação Paulista de Futebol system, however, lists the deal only until 20 June, an error attributed to the club that was meant to be corrected but has not yet been updated.
