TNT Sports reports that 32-year-old Moroccan midfielder Zakaria Labyad is expected in São Paulo on Sunday night, ahead of a likely unveiling as Corinthians’ fifth signing of 2026.
His flight is scheduled to land at Guarulhos in the early evening, shortly before kick-off at Neo Química Arena for the derby with Palmeiras at 20:30, in the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista.
Once in Brazil, Labyad is set to undergo routine medical tests in the coming days, then await the necessary paperwork before any official announcement by the Parque São Jorge club.
After Sunday’s derby, Corinthians host Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday at 20:00 in the third round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at Neo Química Arena. For eligibility, his name must appear on the CBF’s Daily Information Bulletin (BID) by Monday, before the round starts. Given the short turnaround, clearance is more likely for the final game of the Paulista’s first phase, against São Bernardo at Primeiro de Maio on Sunday 15 February.
For state registration, clubs can list up to 35 players on list A until 13 February, then make up to four changes on 20 February for the knockout phase. List B is reserved for academy players.
Labyad has been a free agent since the end of 2025 after leaving Dalian Yingbo in China, and he has not played since 22 November last year. Corinthians have already confirmed four signings this window, open until March, namely centre-back Gabriel Paulista, full-back Pedro Milans, midfielder Matheus Pereira and forward Kaio César. The club also have an agreement with goalkeeper João Ricardo, and talks are advanced for Argentine left-back Fabrizio Angileri to return after he failed to renew at the end of 2025.
