Corinthians trio promoted from Copinha struggle for minutes under Dorival Júnior | OneFootball

Corinthians pulled João Vitor Jacaré, Luiz Gustavo Bahia and Gui Amorim out of the Copinha to join the senior squad, but chances have been scarce under Dorival Júnior. According to Meu Timao, there was no place for the trio on the bench against Velo Clube last Sunday.

Bahia has seen the most action, starting the 3-0 defeat to Red Bull Bragantino and playing the first 45 minutes. He was an unused substitute against Ponte Preta on the opening day and São Paulo on 18 January, making three matchday squads from five so far.

Right-back Jacaré has a similar story, with only 10 minutes against Ponte Preta, then spots on the bench versus Red Bull Bragantino, São Paulo and Santos.

Midfielder Gui Amorim has yet to feature and has been named on the bench only twice, against Ponte Preta and Red Bull Bragantino.

The lack of minutes stands out given Corinthians have pushed rotation early in the campaign and have handed opportunities to several players. Even in heavily rotated line-ups, such as against Red Bull Bragantino and Velo Clube, the academy trio were overlooked.

Minutes could be harder to find now, with the Brasileirão opener against Bahia and the Supercopa do Brasil meeting with Flamengo this week. The next likely chance to rotate arrives on 5 February, next Thursday, when lower-tier Capivariano visit Neo Química Arena.

Corinthians under-20s, without Amorim, Jacaré and Bahia, exited the Copinha early after a 2-1 defeat to Guarani in the second phase. The side now prepare for the under-20 Brasileiro and Paulista from February.
