Corinthians trio to represent Brazil in continental futsal tournament

The Brazilian Futsal Confederation (CBF) announced this Friday the list of call-ups for the Brazilian Under-20 National Team, which will compete in the Liga Evolução. Among the ten names called, Corinthians had the largest presence, represented by the defender Mineiro, the winger Igor Bredof, and the pivot Andrey.

The first stage of the tournament is scheduled to take place between November 12 and 16 in Venezuela, where Brazil will seek to win its fifth consecutive title in the competition. The Liga Evolução brings together teams from the main and Under-20 categories, encouraging exchange between youth and professional teams.

In this year's edition, the main team will be composed of an Under-23 squad, without the presence of Corinthians athletes, who remain focused on the quarter-finals of the LNF and the Paulista Championship.

In the Northern Zone of the competition, Brazil will face Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru. The champion of this group will compete in the tournament's final against the winner of the Southern Zone, which includes Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia. The Brazilian players are expected to report in Sorocaba on October 28 for a preparatory training period before departure.

Even though they are registered in the Under-20 category, the three Corinthians representatives may be integrated into the main group during the competition, as the regulations allow the inclusion of two youth players per match. Besides them, the defender Ivan Monteros, who plays in the professional squad of Corinthians, will also participate in the Liga Evolução — representing the Argentine National Team in the Southern Zone competition.

Meanwhile, in national competitions, the Corinthians Under-20 team returns to the court this Friday at 8:10 PM to face Liga Santos away, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Paulista Championship. Last Tuesday, Timãozinho bid farewell to the Talentos LNF after drawing with Jaraguá at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium and being surpassed in the first leg of the semi-final.
