Corinthians: two at risk, three out for Velo Clube in Paulistão

On the night of this Sunday (25), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), Corinthians visits Velo Clube at the Benito Agnelo Castellano Stadium, in a match valid for the fifth round of the group stage of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. Currently, the Alvinegro occupies eighth place in the state championship—the last spot within the qualification zone for the knockout stage—with five points earned.

For the match, Dorival Júnior's coaching staff will have three absences: defender Cacá (strain of the internal oblique muscle on the left side), midfielder José Martínez (still in Venezuela seeking reissuance of his passport to return to Brazil), and forward Memphis Depay (physical conditioning, already training with the ball). As reported by Central do Timão, the expectation is that the number 10 will be available for the Supercopa do Brasil final, against Flamengo, in Brasília, next Sunday (1).

In addition to the aforementioned absences, Corinthians has two players at risk of suspension with two yellow cards, and if they are booked in this Sunday's match (25), they will not be able to face Capivariano on February 5 (Thursday), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), for the sixth round of the state championship. They are: midfielders André and André Carrillo, who have been starters for the team at the beginning of this season.

In tonight's match against Velo Clube, Corinthians seeks three points to get into the fight for the top positions in the Paulistão, aiming for favorable conditions in the knockout stage. After the state championship match, Corinthians will turn its attention to its debut in the Brasileirão. Next Wednesday (28), at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will face Bahia at Vila Belmiro.
