Corinthians Women hold Ferroviária, draw keeps them top of Paulista

On the evening of this Thursday (13th), Corinthians returned to the field for the Paulista Women's Championship. Playing at Arena Fonte Luminosa for the 13th round of the state tournament, the Brabas faced Ferroviária. In a game where both teams showed little inspiration and the alvinegras played with one less player for over half an hour (Thais Regina was sent off), the final score was 0 x 0.

With this result, Corinthians reaches 32 points in the overall standings, maintaining a five-point lead over Palmeiras, who remain in second place. Thus, the People's Team secured the overall lead in the first phase, as there is only one game left before the knockout stage begins.

Corinthians Line-up

Coach Lucas Piccinato lined up the team with: Lelê; Thais Ferreira, Erika, Thais Regina, and Duda Sampaio; Andressa Alves, Ivana Fuso, Gisela Robledo, Tamires, Gabi Zanotti, and Ariel Godoi. On the bench were: Kemelli, Letícia Santos, Eudimilla, Juliana Passari, Vic Albuquerque, Leticia Monteiro, Mariza, Paulinha, Juliete, Gi Fernandes, Dayana Rodriguez, and Carol Nogueira.

Ferroviária Line-up

Coach Léo Mendes lined up the rivals with Luciana; Kati, Rafa Soares, Andressa, Camila, Fátima Dutra, Nicoly, Duda, Raquel, Vendito, and Dudinha.

Refereeing

The referee was Ana Caroline D’Eleuterio de Sousa Carvalho, assisted by Izabele de Oliveira and Juliana Vicentin Esteves as lineswomen. The fourth referee was Pedro Henrique Alves de Paula. There is no use of VAR in this phase of the championship.

How the Game Went

Corinthians started better and pressed, with triangulations and quick plays down the flanks. However, they faltered in finishing and couldn't turn their game volume into clear chances, despite creating a good opportunity with Tamires' header. Ferroviária balanced the game with set pieces and started to trouble, especially after the 27th minute. The home team grew, hit the crossbar from a corner, and had more possession, but the score remained goalless – Andressa Alves still missed a good chance at the end.

After the break, the home team returned stronger and continued betting on speed, creating danger in the first minutes. The game scenario changed even more after Thais Regina was sent off, leaving Corinthians with one less player. But even with a numerical disadvantage, the Brabas managed to control the rivals, who pressed but didn't create great scoring chances. Piccinato made defensive changes that allowed Corinthians to suffer little and, in the end, secure the goalless draw in Araraquara.

Next Commitment

After visiting Ferroviária, Corinthians will close the first phase of the Paulista Women's Championship at home against Realidade Jovem. The match takes place on Sunday, November 16, at 7:30 PM, at Estádio José Liberatti, in Osasco.
