Corinthians’ women marked a symbolic moment at the Neo Química Arena before the Majestoso, taking a lap around the pitch with club historian Fernando Wanner, who carries the image of São Jorge at matches in Itaquera, and saluting the home crowd.
According to Meu Timao, the walk acted as a send-off ahead of their journey to London, drawing applause and underlining the bond between team, supporters and tradition.
During the clássico, the men’s side wore a shirt nodding to the Brabas in London campaign, linking the men’s side to the women’s international push. The club has been fostering closer ties, with both squads sharing time at CT Joaquim Grava during sessions in November.
On the pitch, the men drew 1-1 with São Paulo in the Campeonato Paulista third round in Itaquera.
Lucas Piccinato’s squad are due to fly on Tuesday 20 January for the Copa das Campeãs Feminina da FIFA, with a single-leg semi-final against Gotham FC on 28 January at 9:30 Brasília time at the Gtech Community Stadium. The final is set for 1 February, the same day as the third-place play-off.
