Corinthians: Women's Libertadores decider, derby, NBB opener

The FIFA international break ends this week and, consequently, Corinthians will once again have several commitments throughout the days. In this half of October, the People’s Team will have to take the field to decide the Women’s Libertadores semifinal, play a derby in the Brasileirão, contest a decisive match in the National Futsal League (LNF), and kick off the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).

The first commitment on the schedule is only on the 15th, Wednesday — which is packed with important clashes. At 3 p.m. (Brasília time), the Brabinhas face Palmeiras in the second leg of the U-20 Women’s Paulistão quarterfinals. The ball rolls on the pitch at Arena Barueri.

On the same day, but in the evening, the Brabas take the field to decide a spot in the Women’s Libertadores final. The matchup is also a derby, against Ferroviária, at Estadio Lencho, in Argentina. The ball rolls from 8 p.m., and it’s a single-elimination game for a place in the continental final.

Right after the women’s team takes the field, the men’s team headlines the return of the Brasileirão after the FIFA break. Dorival Júnior and his squad head down to face Santos in the 28th round of the championship. The Clássico Alvinegro takes place at Vila Belmiro from 9:30 p.m.

After a challenge-free Thursday, the 16th. The Furiosas open Friday with another round of the Women’s Paulista Basketball realignment. Corinthians visit Santo André, seeking to maintain their winning streak in the competition. Tip-off is at 7 p.m., at Ginásio Laís Elena.

Next, at 8:30 p.m., the futsal team hosts Carlos Barbosa in a decisive National League match. After a draw away from home over the weekend, Corinthians count on the support of the Faithful at Wlamir Marques to secure the win and, as a result, clinch a spot in the quarterfinals.

On Saturday, the 18th, there could be three commitments, depending on the week’s results. The first is in the NBB: Corinthians face Minas away, in the first round of the competition. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

Minutes later, Neo Química Arena hosts the People’s Team against Atlético-MG, again for the Brasileirão, from 6:30 p.m. The team wants to maintain its home winning streak after beating Mirassol before the FIFA break.

The possible third commitment depends on the result between Corinthians and Ferroviária in the Women’s Libertadores semifinal. If the Brabas advance, the tournament final is set for the 18th, starting at 8 p.m. (Brasília time). Follow Central do Timão to get all the details.
