Corinthians youth defenders target key Paulistão U15 and U17 ties

The Corinthians youth teams take the field on the morning of this Saturday, October 11, for the second leg matches of the Round of 16 of the Paulista U-15 and U-17 Championships. Both games will take place at Estádio Alfredo Schürig, Fazendinha. At 9 a.m., the younger team faces Audax, and two hours later, the Sons of Terrão will take on Red Bull Bragantino.

In the first leg matches, the club from Parque São Jorge came out on top in both, winning by a score of 2-0. Because of this, the Sons of Terrão can lose by up to one goal and still advance to the quarterfinals of the state championship. In an interview with the official Corinthians website, left-back Rafael Luiz emphasized that the team must not relax even with the aggregate advantage.

“We have been training hard to be able to play a good game. Even with the advantage we have, we cannot relax, and that must be the attitude we show on the field,” he said. Corinthians’ U-15 will have the returns of coach Eduardo Vergueiro and midfielders Lucas Lopes and Léo Rodrigues, who were with the Brazilian National Team in winning the U-15 Evolution League.

This season, the category—which is seen as one of the most promising at Parque São Jorge—has already won three titles: Mina Cup, Copa Votorantim, and Paulista Cup.

Next, U-17 defender Cauã Ribeiro commented on the week’s preparation for the decisive match against Red Bull Bragantino: “We got an excellent result away from home and had a very productive week of training. The group is very focused so that we can play another great match and secure qualification,” he stated.
