Coritiba beat Atlético Mineiro 2-0 at Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira to end a four-match Brasileirão winless run, with the visitors dropping to 11th.
In the seventh minute, Breno Lopes finished from close range after a corner to give Coxa control. Pedro Rocha then doubled the lead with a low left-footer (58.).
Pedro Rangel was outstanding in goal, making seven saves to preserve the clean sheet. Galo carried the attacking threat, registering 23 attempts and seven on target.
Both sides finished with 10 players after straight reds for Renato Marques and Renan Lodi (90.). Moments earlier there had been a stoppage following a confrontation, and five minutes of added time were signalled.
Galo had 76.9% possession as they pressed. Coxa, meanwhile, produced 34 clearances and scored with both of their shots on target.
