MIAMI – The Final Round of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continues with Costa Rica and Jamaica matching wits in Group C on Thursday at Costa Rica Federation Field #1 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

This will be their second meeting after last squaring off in the 2016 Qualifiers. Costa Rica took a 3-2 win in the previous encounter.

Las Ticas kicked off the Final Round with a 3-1 win against Panama. Lucia Paniagua added two goals to her personal tally, reaching 13 total across the First Round and Final Round of the tournament.

Jamaica will seek to reset after a 9-nil defeat against Mexico.

Costa Rica and Jamaica will meet again in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship ten years after Costa Rica’s 3-2 victory in Group B on March 6, 2016, at the National Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada. Costa Rica’s goals were scored by Valeria del Campo Gutiérrez (penalty), Merilyn Alvarado, and María Paula Salas, while Ebony Clarke and Tarania Caresh Clarke scored for Jamaica.

Costa Rica has two consecutive victories against Caribbean teams in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship and holds an overall record of W-8 D-1 L-1. Their most recent match was a 2-1 win against Haiti on February 1, 2024, in Group A, with a brace from Lourdjina Étienne for Haiti and Daniela Ocampo Fernández scoring for Costa Rica.

For Jamaica, this will be the sixth time facing a Central American team in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship, with a record of W-3 D-1 L-1. The lone defeat was the 3-2 loss against Costa Rica.
