Frank Lampard has been linked with the impending vacancy at Bournemouth
Coventry City are on the cusp of earning promotion back to the Premier League after a 25-year absence from the division.
The Sky Blues need just one more point from their final four games to confirm their position inside the top two in the Championship.
Frank Lampard’s side are also in pole position to win the second division title, with six points from 12 in their remaining fixtures now enough to seal first place.
However, speculation has surrounded the future of the manager, who has earned a lot of praise for his work at the CBS Arena since his appointment in November 2024.
The 47-year-old has been linked with a potential move to Bournemouth following confirmation that Andoni Iraola (pictured below) will depart the Cherries at the end of the campaign.
Lampard has a contract with Coventry until June 2027, meaning he is set to enter the final 12 months of his deal this summer.

Lampard has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to the Vitality Stadium this summer, suggesting that he’s happy where he is at the CBS Arena.
He reiterated that his full focus is on helping Coventry’s end to the campaign, with their sights set on winning the Championship title on their way to promotion.
When asked what he made of the links to Bournemouth, he replied, via Coventry Live: “Nothing!”
"Nothing, because I have been in this game long enough to know that those things happen and very quickly they change, or whatever, and absolutely my focus is on us.
“I want to win this league now after what we’ve done through the season because it will be a slight anti-climax feeling for myself if we didn’t get the job done there.
“And that’s a good pressure to have at this point.
“So I want to do that and nothing else is taking me anywhere away than thinking about that.”
Lampard replaced Mark Robins as manager 18 months ago, and he led the team to a fifth place finish in the Championship in his first half-season in charge.
But defeat to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals ended their hopes of promotion, with that being their second loss in the play-offs in three years.
Robins oversaw a fourth place finish in 2023, which led to a final defeat to Luton Town on penalties.
Coventry have not competed in the Premier League since 2001, but are now just one point away from a long-awaited return.
Lampard’s side had the chance to secure their place inside the top two last weekend against 24th place Sheffield Wednesday.
However, a 0-0 draw ensured that the club had to wait at least one more game before sealing their place in the top flight.
Next up for Coventry is a trip to face Blackburn Rovers on Friday night in an 8pm kick-off.
Lampard’s made it pretty clear in this response that he’s not involved in the appointment of the next Bournemouth manager, which will be a relief to Coventry supporters.
The 47-year-old’s reputation took a big hit with his previous two jobs at Everton and Chelsea, where he struggled to coach at Premier League level.
But he’s done a great job with the Sky Blues, and next season will be a chance for him to show how much he’s grown in the time since he left his second stint at Stamford Bridge.
While there are other clubs that could yet make an approach for Lampard, it’s looking increasingly likely that his future is at the CBS Arena.
