Coventry City are looking to offer Frank Lampard a new deal and give him funds to boost the club's bid to return to the top flight according to reports.
Journalist Matt Hughes of The Guardian has stated that the club's owner is to give the former Chelsea and Everton manager a 'significant' fund to bolster his squad for the second half of the season with wide players in particular high on the shopping list.
As well as boosting the squad, Coventry want to ensure that Lampard stays at the club. The 47-year-old's current deal expires at the end of next season, when the club could be back in the Premier League, and they are likely to offer to extend that even further.
With Hull City defeating second-place Middlesbrough on Monday evening, Coventry City are now 10 points clear at the top of the Championship ahead of travelling to face Charlton Athletic on New Year's Day.
