Leicester City fans will pay £45 to watch the M69 derby at Coventry from the away end on 17 January at the CBS Arena.

That is 50 per cent higher than any Premier League away ticket last season, where prices are capped at £30, a restriction not in place in the Championship.

West Bromwich Albion supporters threatened a boycott when quoted the same price at Coventry earlier this season.

"We think local derbies are great experiences. Leicester, Birmingham, West Bromwich Albion… we think our local derby partners are big games."

He was speaking to the BBC.

"When we need to discount and get people there on a cold midweek game in January, we'll do the same."

"People say the Premier League is capped at £30 but I say: 'Yeah, but the Premier League has got £120m broadcast revenue and I've got a pittance.' We're not printing money in the Championship."

The £45 adult price is a rise of £8 on the meeting two seasons ago, when 10-man City lost 3-1.

For September’s reverse M69 derby, Leicester charged visiting Coventry fans £35, still above the Premier League cap.

Some home matches have seen general sale adult tickets above £45 in certain sections, with Category A prices at the King Power ranging from £30 to £49.

Away tickets for the Coventry match go on sale to Leicester season-ticket holders from Monday.
