Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix were left furious after Al-Nassr lost to Al-Ahli, when sporting director Rui Pedro Braz sprinted onto the pitch to celebrate with goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi. As he passed, he appeared to brush Felix’s arm, and both reacted angrily at the full-time intrusion.
A Bola reports that Braz has since contacted Ronaldo and Felix to apologise, with manager Jorge Jesus also reaching out. He explained that the goalkeeper was upset at half-time after a first-half error and that he had only sought to show support. He described the incident as a misunderstanding and accepted it could be viewed as provocative, adding that no offence was intended.
On the pitch, Ivan Toney scored a brace and Merih Demiral also netted as Al-Ahli beat Al-Nassr. Demiral later mocked Ronaldo on social media.
Ronaldo missed a glaring second-half chance as Al-Nassr were beaten, a setback to their title hopes.
The loss ended Al-Nassr’s unbeaten start to the Saudi Pro League season, and the flashpoint with Braz came seconds after the final whistle.
