Wolverhampton Wanderers have accepted a bid from Crystal Palace for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in a deal worth £43 million plus a further £5m in add-ons.

The agreement follows several days of negotiations and moves Palace closer to securing a forward before the transfer deadline.

Palace had been in advanced discussions over a verbal agreement earlier in the week, with the structure of the deal now agreed between the two Premier League clubs.

Agent Jorge Mendes has been involved in negotiations on Wolves’ behalf throughout the process.

The Norway international is expected to bolster Palace’s attacking options as they prepare for the likely departure of Jean-Philippe Mateta.

AC Milan are working on a deal for Mateta, who was left out of Palace’s squad to face Nottingham Forest.

Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the French forward was ‘not in the right place to play’ due to the ongoing transfer speculation.

Palace have struggled for goals during an extended winless run and have prioritised securing a replacement before allowing Mateta to leave.

The 25-year-old joined Wolves permanently last summer after a loan spell from Celta Vigo and signed a new long-term contract in September.

Wolves had previously resisted interest in the striker, rejecting bids of £50m and £55m from Newcastle United during the summer transfer window.

At the time, the club cited the difficulty of sourcing a replacement late in the market. Circumstances have since shifted, with Wolves now willing to sanction his exit at the agreed price.

Strand Larsen has scored six goals in all competitions this season. His output last season was a key factor in Palace’s interest, with the club viewing him as a player capable of an immediate impact.

Leeds United and Nottingham Forest had both explored deals earlier in the window, while West Ham United registered interest in December.

Palace currently sit 15th in the Premier League, eight points clear of the relegation zone.

The club are eager to add goals and depth in attack as they look to pull further clear in the second half of the season.

Strand Larsen’s arrival would ease the transition should Mateta complete a move before Monday’s deadline.

The deal represents a significant return on Wolves’ investment and provides funds for potential reinforcements.
