Crystal Palace could bid above €48m to sign Mamadou Sangare ahead of Brentford | OneFootball

Crystal Palace are considering bidding above €48 million to sign Lens’ Mamadou Sangare this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The Eagles are in the market for midfield reinforcement following the departure of Daichi Kamada upon the expiration of his contract.

Palace are now eyeing Sangare, who worked with manager Pierre Sage in France. That relationship could prove crucial in landing the Malian.

Per the report, Brentford are in advanced talks to sign him for €48m plus bonuses, but the French side is expecting Palace to come with an even higher offer to snap him up.

Sangare was one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 last season. The left-footed, powerful, 24-year-old is adept at breaking up play and driving forward with the ball.

Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure has spent the better part of two seasons sidelined, leaving the South London club light in the middle of the park.

Even if he returns today, he’ll need months to get up to speed and a loan move away might even be more beneficial to all parties.

Also, Adam Wharton could be on his way out of Selhurst Park with several elite clubs showing interest in securing his services.

This means Palace must be proactive in the summer transfer window by bringing in one or two midfielders.

Besides Sangare, the Eagles have also been linked with Youssouf Fofana as they look to add more physicality in the centre of the park.

Getting midfield reinforcement is a priority for the Europa Conference League champions after securing the rearguard.

They are closing in on Chrislain Matsima, who will likely replace Maxence Lacroix.

Elsewhere, they have agreed personal terms with 19-year-old gem Raphael Le Guen and are looking to submit a bid for his signature in the coming days.

Palace will be eager to give Sage a good first window after notably slacking off despite the miracles Oliver Glasner performed.
