Crystal Palace FC will enter into formal talks with Lens manager Pierre Sage, according to the BBC. The Eagles are in the market for a head coach after parting ways with Oliver Glasner, who has led the South London side to their maiden European title last week with the Conference League.
Palace initially prioritised a move for Bournemouth departing head coach Andoni Iraola, but the Spaniard is expected to replace Arne Slot at Liverpool. Sage was also on Liverpool’s radar.
The BBC understands that Sage is open to joining Palace. The 47-year-old boss is expected to meet club officials in the next days. Sage has been non-committal when quizzed about his future in Northern France after leading Lens to second-place in Ligue 1 and to their maiden Coupe de France title. The former Lyon head coach is tied with Les Sang et Or with a contract set to expire in 2028.
