Chelsea beat Manchester United on Friday night thanks to a Marc Cucurella header from a Reece James cross, and after the game Enzo Maresca took some credit for it, saying “the assist from the right full-back and the goal from the left full-back, it’s the way I like to play.”

Cucurella was asked about it too, and said it was something he and the team worked on at Cobham all season:
“We work on this in training all the time,” the full back said in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.
“He knows he needs to put the ball there, and I know I need to arrive in that position. It’s a goal we are working on during the week.”
That was what was really notable about the assist – the spin on the edge of the box to lose Alejandro Garnacho was nice, but the chipped up cross was played almost before Cucurella and his fellow attackers had even begun their run.
James knew where his teammate was going to be – and that’s just what you train for.
Cucurella also spoke about the team and the vital results against United which sets them up for a final day decider for the Champions League against Nottingham Forest:
“I’m very happy. The team deserved this moment. It’s true we suffered a little bit. We didn’t start the game well and we lost a bit of confidence, but we knew we needed to stay in the game and then we would have the chance to score a goal and win it,” the Spaniard said.
“We need to push hard in the last weeks, give the last effort, and finish the season strong.”
