The Red Devils are joint-record 20-time winners of England's top flight but heading towards a 13year title drought. Last season was the club's lowest league finish since relegation in 1974, after ending thePremier League campaign 15th under former manager Ruben Amorim.

United have enjoyed an upturn since Michael Carrick's appointment as interim boss, and currently sit third in the table as the side chase Champions League qualification and a return to Europe's top table.

Cunha signed for Manchester United from Wolves in the summer and outlined his ambition to win major trophies at Old Trafford. He called on the squad to wake up a 'sleeping giant'.

“I never think about the negative side of Manchester United. For me, it’s an extraordinary club,"he said.

“I joke that the giant is sleeping, and that we are going to wake it up."

Manchester United face Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend in a crucial clash for both side's top-four hopes. The two teams sit third and fourth in the table, level on points, ahead of their contest at Old Trafford.
