Curaçao defeats Jamaica to climb to first place in Group B

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao - The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Curaçao securing a 2-nil win against Jamaica in Group B on Friday at Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad, Curaçao.
Curaçao took the lead in the 14’ with a long-range rocket to the bottom left corner from Livano Comenencia.
Joe Russell came close to equalizing for Jamaica in the 45’, but his shot was cleared by the opposition’s back line as it headed towards goal.
Curaçao goalkeeper Eloy Room delivered a key save in the 56’, stopping a powerful hit from Renaldo Cephas from outside the box.
Kenji Gorré doubled Curaçao’s lead in the 68’ with a finish to the top right corner from the left end of the box. Jürgen Locadia provided the assist on the play.
Room pulled off another important save in the 84’ to preserve the hosts’ two-goal advantage, denying an impressive long-range shot from Cephas.
Room had a standout performance for Curaçao, tallying five saves as he recorded a second clean sheet in the Final Round.
The result sees Curaçao climb to first place in Group B with seven points, while Jamaica drops to second on six points.
Both teams will continue their qualifying efforts on Tuesday, when Curaçao hosts Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica hosts Bermuda.
